ARTIST'S STATEMENT

Clare Cashman’s work explores and the oscillating but binding interplay that occurs between perception and the imagination when engaging with the visual world.

The landscapes of her photographs, paintings, drawings and videos appear recognizable while at the same time, ambiguous or uncertain.

Cashman makes work that gives us a sense of traversing a threshold, limit or space. Inviting us, the viewer to make visible or ultimately determine our own individual sense of a space or event.
